Quds day belongs to all nations: Fadlallah

TEHRAN, Sept. 16 (MNA) – The International Quds day belongs to all nations, the senior Lebanese cleric Seyyed Mohammad Hussein Fadlallah has said.

“The Quds day should belong to all Muslims worldwide and hence not being limited to a particular group or party. It should become a prelude for making real change,” the grand ayatollah underscored.

“(Freedom-seeking) nations have no other choice but to resist with all their means at hand. Such nations should strongly move forward to change the future,” the cleric said as he urged Muslims worldwide to back the people of Palestine wholeheartedly.

In an interview with Mehr News Agency, the Shiite cleric said, “The issue of Palestine is closely related to the dignity and glory of the Islamic Ummah.”

Referring to the pivotal nature of the event as a way of expressing solidarity with the Palestinian cause, Fadlallah said, “The Islamic Ummah should never quit pursuing the liberation of Quds.”

Fadlallah also praised the Palestinians for their strong resistance against the Zionist regime’s brutalities over past six decades.

“At different times Palestinians have proved they are the good examples of resistance and endurance against enemies’ efforts aiming to dash away their hopes and suppress their resistance.”

Earlier this week Fadlallah issued a fatwa banning any normalization of ties between Arab states and Israel.

Imam Khomeini is standard-bearer of support to Palestinians

Osamma Hamdan, the representative of Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in Lebanon, called Imam Khomeini the standard-bearer of support for Palestinians’ rights and efforts for the liberation of the holy Quds.

He said, “Despite many international pressures, the Islamic Republic of Iran has remained steadfast in its support of the Palestinian people.”

“The Quds day can lead to the unity and solidarity among the Islamic Ummah,” the Hamas representative pointed out.

Underlining the necessity of commemorating the International Quds Day as an invaluable legacy of Ayatollah Khomeini, he noted, “The Quds day has had many positive impacts on the people of Palestine.

“It sends a message to the world that the issue of Palestine is not only confined to the Palestinians but is an issue of the Islamic Ummah.

“Hence it is not possible to resolve the issue of Palestine by suppressing Palestinians.”

“It further sends this message to the Palestinians that they are not alone (in their fight against Israel) since they are defending the rights of the Islamic Ummah,” he added.
